  1. There is no entry fee for Junior Fair exhibitors entering the Junior classes.
  2. Junior Fair exhibitors can enter Senior classes; however they are asked to pay a $5 membership fee.
  3. Any exhibitor can enter classes for older ages.
  4. Entries must be solely the work of the person exhibiting. Work done by parents, teachers etc. will disqualify the entry from the competition.
  5. No item may be exhibited more than one at this Fair.
  6. Ages are as of July 15, 2026
  7. Prizes for Junior classes: 1st place $4.00, 2nd place $3.00, 3rd place $2.00, 4th place $1.00, except for Creative Writing which is indicated below. Prize for Best of Class and Most Points: $4.00.

CLASS 1 JUNIOR BAKING

Baking exhibits should be on a disposable plate, entry tag attached to the plate and in a plastic bag with ziploc or twist tie closing. Multiple items are to be from the same recipe.

Class 1A – Children’s Baking (5 years and under)

  1. Oreo dirt cup
  2. Peanut butter cookies (3)
  3. Farm Animal inspired cupcakes (3) * judging based on appearance
  4. Old MacDonald’s Farm – create an farm scene using edible items on a plate (no larger than the plate size)

Class 1B – Children’s Baking (6 – 8 years)

  1. Farm Animal inspired sugar cookies (3)
  2. Frosted brownies (3 pieces)
  3. Ice cream cone cupcakes (3) * judging based on appearance
  4. Old MacDonald’s Farm theme decorated cupcakes (3) * judging based on appearance
  5. Baked good made with a Favourite Family Recipe (3 pieces or 1 slice) – include recipe

Class 1C – Children’s Baking ( 9-12 years)

  1. Chocolate Chip cookies (3)
  2. Cupcake Decorated (1) – Old MacDonald’s Farm theme *judging based on appearance
  3. Make and decorate 3 cake pops, any flavour
  4. Banana Bread (1/2 loaf)
  5. Dessert made with a favourite Family Recipe ( 3 pieces or 1 slice) – include recipe

CLASS 1D – Teen Baking (13-18 years)

  1. Farm animal decorated sugar cookies (3) * judging based on appearance
  2. Mini pie, any flavour
  3. Blueberry muffins (3)
  4. Fudge frosted brownies (3)
  5. S’more dessert (3)
  6. Your favourite family dessert, include recipe (3 pieces or 1 slice)

CLASS 2 JUNIOR KNITTING and CROCHET (12 years and under)

  1. Hat – knit or crochet
  2. Scarf – knit or crochet
  3. Finger knitted bracelet

CLASS 3 JUNIOR SEWING (12 years and under)

  1. Toy or doll
  2. Accessory to wear (headband, scarf, hat , etc.)
  3. Something new from something old with description
  4. Bag or tote

CLASS 4 AGRICULTURAL AWARENESS

  1. 6 years and under – Draw a picture of what farming means to you.
  2. 7 – 12 years – Design a shoebox display to explain what agriculture means to you.
  3. 13 -18 years – Design a display to depict the importance of agriculture to you.

  3. Yarn Art, use yarn on canvas to create a masterpiece
  4. ‘Pond Life’ – pencil (coloured or graphite) drawing of a pond
  5. Anime picture
  6. Pencil vs. Camera – use a photograph as part of your creation

CLASS 6 JUNIOR CREATIVE CRAFTS

Class 6A – GREEN ( Ages 4 years and under )

  1. Summer Collection – display a collection of natural items in an egg carton
  2. Dried goods mosaic – use dry pasta, beans, corn, etc. to create a design on a paper plate
  3. Painted rock
  4. Paper roll critter – decorate a toilet paper roll as an animal using any materials
  5. Newspaper stamping – stamp a design on newspaper using paint
  6. Finger painting of a butterfly

Class 6B – YELLOW ( 5-6 years )

  1. Fairies at the Fair – decorate a clay or plastic flower pot as a home for a Fair Fairy to live in
  2. Barnyard friends – use paper plates to create a paper animal
  3. Corny car – make a vehicle out of corn (husks, leaves, cobs – be creative)
  4. Fair Fun – draw a picture of your favourite moment at the Fair
  5. Feathered Friends – build and decorate a bird house

Class 6C – RED ( 7-9 years )

  1. ‘Canada is My Home’ – draw a picture of your favourite place in Canada
  2. Aquarium in a Jar – create an undersea world using a variety of items (but no live animals please!)
  3. Rock Snake – paint some rocks and create a snake on a paper plate
  4. Pipe cleaner animal – use pipe cleaners and other items to create a farm animal
  5. Recycled race car – use any recycled items (no larger than 30 cm)

Class 6D – BLUE (10-12 years)

  1. Big Green Tractor – make/build a tractor using a mix of natural and recycled items (max. 30 cm)
  2. Design a robot using recycled materials ( max 30 cm)
  3. Paper flowers displayed in a container
  4. Oh Canada! – a drawing of something representing Canada
  5. Key chain – make a key chain using any item


CLASS 7 JUNIOR GROWERS

CLASS 7A – Junior Grower (10 years and under)

  1. Bean plant in a pot
  2. Five radishes
  3. Biggest zucchini or summer squash

CLASS 7B – Junior Grower (11 – 18 years)

CLASS 8A – Flower Arrangements (10 years and under)

  1. Summer Sky – arrangement using blue and yellow flowers
  2. Oh Canada – arrangement using red and white flowers with Canada themed decorations
  3. Kick off Your Shoes – arrangement in a shoe
  4. My Favourite Colour – arrangement using flowers of your favourite colour

CLASS 8B – Flower Arrangements (11 – 18 years)

  1. Sunny Day – arrangement using yellow flowers
  2. Rainbow of Colours. – arrangement using all the colours of the rainbow

CLASS 9 SCARECROW IN THE FAIR

Old MacDonald’s Farm theme. Scarecrows to be displayed on the lawn in front of the Exhibit Hall.

CLASS 10 JUNIOR CREATIVE WRITING

Prizes: 1st – $10, 2nd – $5, 3rd – $3

1. Creative Writing, Ages 4-8 – Choose 1 topic

  • What is your favourite book/story? Tell us why and draw a picture of yourself reading.
  • What is your favourite book/story character? Tell us why and draw a picture of the character.

2. Creative Writing, Ages 9-12

Write a book about yourself or an experience you’ve had. Your entry should include the following:

  • a book cover with a title, author’s name and artwork
  • at least one chapter
  • an author bio on the back cover- name, hometown, etc.
  • 100 word minimum
